Alteration Art is a collaborative project between Rick Wolfryd, an artist and art dealer with over 40 years of experience, and several Mexican Huichol artists and Huichol art studios. After living in Mexico for more than 10 years, Rick became deeply captivated by Huichol art and now dedicates himself to creating collectible pieces using Huichol-style glass beads.

With over 20 years of experience in digital pixelation, Rick finds a sublime connection between pixelation and beading, as both rely on geometric patterns to create special images.

Throughout his career, Rick has also explored abstract anthropomorphic patterns, which were evident in his early printed works and his ventures into digital art.

Rick refers to his current style as “Glass beads with steroids,” blending traditional Huichol craftsmanship with contemporary aesthetics.

This project aims not only to deliver unique art but also to support the growth and recognition of the Huichol community within the art world.
